Musical Student was crowned Miss Italia 2008

The 70th anniversary ceremony of Miss Italy 2008 contest held in Salsomaggiore Terme on September 14th. Musical student Miriam Leone, a 23-year old 1.76 m ,from Acireale (Catania), was crowned Miss Italia 2008.
The Miss Italia 2008 is the official beauty title of Italy, however its winners do not compete internationally. Representatives of Italy to Miss Universe and Miss World are chosen in different contests: Miss Universo Italia and Miss Mondo Italia, respectively.
The last "official" Miss Italia to compete in Miss Universe was Gloria Bellichi, in 1999. Courtesy RAI Italia.
